Downing College was founded in 1800 by Sir George Downing. He built Number 10 Downing Street – and a door of that famous house is now in use in the College! Famous alumni of the College include Quentin Blake, the much loved illustrator of Roald Dahl’s children’s books. Also, John Cleese, British comedy actor graduated from Downing College in 1939. |
