Hampshire’s longest river, the River Test, is a mecca for trout fishermen across the world. Many come and walk the 44 mile Test Way from Coombe Gibbet on the Berkshire Downs to Eling Tide Mill on Soutampton Water.

Mottisfont House and Gardens was once a priory, founded in 1209, and is now a beautiful National Trust house with walled garden, river walks and stunning new art gallery.
Historic Romsey grew up around its 10th Century Abbey. Lord Louis Mountbatten lived at nearby Broadlands. Visitors can sip tea at one of the many tea shops, restaurants or hotels or visit King John’s House and period garden and soak up the atmosphere of this charming Hampshire market town.

The Test Valley contains attractions galore! Visit the Hawk Conservancy and Thruxton Racing Circuit just west of Andover on the A303 or The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop. The Weyhill Craft & Design Centre at Weyhill was immortalised as where Thomas Henchard sold his wife before becoming The Mayor of Casterbridge. For those with a love of nature Houghton Lodge hydroponic and Sir Harold Hillier Gardens covering 180 acres just north of Romsey are perfect.
From water cress to water buffalo burgers, Test Valley trout to wine the area has a wealth of local produce which finds its way to monthly Farmers Markets in Romsey and Andover, local pubs, restaurants and local food fairs such as Trout and About in Stockbridge on 5 August 2012.
Once home to Stockbridge Races the beautiful town of Stockbridge nestles at the heart of Test Valley. Christened Google Streetview top foodie street in the country in 2009, Stockbridge has a wide range of independent shops from galleries, delicatessens and specialist shops of every description.

Stockbridge is also a perfect place to explore the beautiful countryside of Test Valley, whether cycling the Test Way or on foot visiting Stockbridge Marsh and Stockbridge Down, both owned by the Natural Trust.
